Should you tip your movers? Leaving one home and moving to another is definitely not just another day in the office for anyone out there. In fact, moving is, according to psychologists, one of the most stressful events an average person can go through. The reasons for such a situation are plentiful. Finding and hiring a reliable moving company is in itself a tough task. Then you have to choose the best possible moving date. In an era as complex as is the modern world which has never been faster and yet people have never had less time, choosing the best moving date is not an easy task either. There are many things that you have to take into consideration when doing that, so it is bound to stress you up at least a little bit. Then you have to make sure to think about packing all of your belongings.

Packing properly is something that you really have to do, well, properly. Moving can be rather hard for some types of items and generally speaking, you have to pack your belongings the best possible way. That also takes time. Then you must consider all the emotional impact that such an event can have on your family and on yourself. And that is one thing that you should not underestimate. After all, stress is mostly created in our own mind, so if we let it, it can become a really huge problem. So, taking all this into account, imagine now that you have a group of people by your side that are able to take away a huge portion of all those obligations. Imagine if you did not have to pack and move everything by yourself. So, should you tip your movers? Well, let us delve deeper into this topic.

What do movers bring to the table?

A lot of people actually tend to underestimate how influential a moving company can be on your move. Moving companies, after all, have but one single purpose – to help you move to your new home. The moving industry has been around for a long time, and it has risen into this modern form throughout the 20th century. It is now a large industry with hundreds of moving companies across the continent. As is the case with every other industry out there, and with pretty much any other social area of human civilization, there are always such representatives of the particular group that are not really what you would call “good ones”. Some moving companies do not deserve your attention which you can easily check by asking the right questions.

Once you hire them, they can help you with a variety of things relating to the move

You would do yourself a worse disservice if you hired a bad moving company, then if you did not hire any at all. However, if you do actually hire a good moving company, then you are in for quite a nice ride. The thing is that moving the company’s employees are people who have trained for doing just that. They have the experience that most of us usually lack. Even if you have moved in the past, there is always something new that can happen. Sometimes moving into an apartment, can be a lot easier than moving out of due to certain types of terrain. Movers have seen it all already, so they will be able to adapt a lot better than you. This is something that has become a routine for them as they do it every other day.

How to determine should you tip your movers?

Generally speaking, the answer to that question is quite simply “yes”. Relocating someone’s entire home is by no means an easy task. There is a lot of hard work that the movers have to put into it and acknowledging this is always welcome. If you tip your movers, you will be doing a nice thing. That is basically a way of saying thank you to them for a job well done. Obviously, in case you are feeling satisfied with their moving services, you should tip the movers. There are several factors that you should consider before you decide whether you are going to tip them and how. So, let us see what are these factors.

Did they finish the move in time?

Obviously, it is not possible to foresee the exact length of a move, but you can still make a really good educated guess when making the deal with the moving company. For instance, if you are moving several blocks away, then the move is likely to finish in a day. If you are moving across New York City, then something like that can actually last for more than one day. You will get a general idea from the company’s representative and they will do their best to uphold it. This is one of two crucial factors.

What is the state of your belongings after the move?

Of course, you want them to bring your belongings in the safest way possible to your new home. What you should do is to inspect some of the boxes and check the condition of things inside of them. Generally, you can see what your belongings have been through by just looking at the boxes. This is the other most important thing to watch out for.

Should you tip your movers? It depends on several factors

What was their overall attitude?

This is not the most important thing to consider, but it does matter quite a lot. If the movers have been rude in any way and have made you feel uncomfortable, then you probably should not tip them. On the other hand, if they have treated you well, and have been kind, then a tip is in order.

Tip them how?

Some sources say that paying 15 to 20 percent is the way to go. However, that is not the case usually. You can give each mover $20 to $30 dollars for an average move. If they did the packing and helped you with careful senior moving etc, then tip your movers with $50. In case you have some items that you do not need anymore, you can kindly offer them as a tip if you think they would be interested in.

Why Choose Us?

These guys moved me last year. They went above and beyond, beat the prices of any other business in their class, and were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They were FAST. The disassembled and reassembled, and handled special requests. I am about to hit them up again for extra help putting together and moving new furniture. They have a great story to their start-up– saw a gap in the moving business and filled that gap by creating a business with customer care first, under their own close watch. Thanks, guys. I got the worst impressions from the others I called comparatively when I was moving and went with my gut on this. Glad I did.
